1. Waterproof coating (film-coated) fabric

This type of fabric is somewhat similar to a jacket fabric, has waterproof and moisture-permeable properties, and is generally used in professional alpine down jackets. But the difference is that the overall fabric will be thinner and softer than the jacket fabric. In addition, because down jackets are generally used in cold environments, they are mainly targeted at the melting of solid water from ice and snow. Therefore, the water pressure resistance requirements of the fabric are not as high as those of jackets, and most down jackets made of waterproof fabrics do not need to be pressed. Glue. Another point to note is that some cheap down jackets use non-breathable coated fabrics to prevent down leakage. If it is just for daily wear, you can barely consider it. Representative fabrics: dryloft, PROO-TEC LM, etc.

2. High-density water-repellent fabric

The density of the fabric itself is very high, generally above 290T. Then, the post-processing process of merging the surface fabric at high temperature to reduce the gaps in the fabric is used to improve the velvet resistance. The surface is the thinnest and softest among all down jacket fabrics, and it is windproof, water-repellent and breathable. This type of fabric is widely used in down jackets and down sleeping bags, but the level of post-processing technology has a great impact on the down-proof properties of the fabric. Representative fabrics: pertex, soft-b, etc.

3. Ordinary woven fabrics plus anti-flannel cloth

Generally, nylon or polyester with lower density is used. When making down jackets, anti-velvet fabric is added to the inside of the fabric to prevent velvet and has good anti-velvet performance. The disadvantage is that the anti-flannel cloth affects the softness of the down jacket and increases the weight of the entire garment. The important thing is that if inferior anti-flannel fabric is used, the breathability of the down jacket will be greatly reduced, and after washing, the anti-flannel fabric will easily break or clump. Another method is to perform anti-velvet treatment. The process is to apply a layer of anti-velvet glue on the inner layer of the fabric. The fabric feels very poor and is not breathable. Representative fabrics: many, but not well-known fabric manufacturers.
