People’s lives and production are all related to static electricity. Static electricity directly or potentially brings varying degrees of harm to human beings from all aspects. With the rapid development of industries such as petrochemical, chemical, electronics, metallurgy and mining, the working environment of flammable and explosive gases and dust is increasing day by day. In addition, chemical fiber materials are widely used in clothing, and static electricity hazards have become a major hidden danger of fire and explosion accidents. According to expert analysis, most fire accidents in workplaces such as gunpowder, chemical industry, medicine, and petroleum are caused by accidental discharge sparks due to static electricity generated by human body activities exceeding safety limits. According to data, there are 400 to 600 dust explosions in my country every year, with economic losses amounting to billions of yuan. The generation of static electricity is closely related to the material of clothing worn by the human body. Therefore, the use of anti-static fabrics is of great significance to improve the protection level of my country’s industrial workers and reduce major accidents caused by static electricity hazards.
The importance of anti-static work clothes has been increasingly valued by relevant national departments. As early as 1989, the catalog of special labor protection products was included in the national standard of “anti-static work clothes” (GB12014-1989). In 2000, the State Economic and Trade Commission The “Standards for Equipping Labor Protection Equipment (Trial)” (State Economic and Trade Commission Security [2000] No. 189) issued by the Ministry of Commerce clearly requires gas station operators, liquefied petroleum gas tankers and similar types of work to be equipped with anti-static overalls. It can be seen from the domestic market in recent years that anti-static work clothes are developing rapidly in petroleum, chemical industry, coal, military industry, medicine and high dust related industries such as flour, linen spinning, metal grinding and other related industries. From the international market, anti-static clothing is also setting off a development boom around the world, with good market prospects.
Antistatic fabric is a fabric woven with yarn mixed with conductive fibers or embedded with conductive filaments. Fabrics containing conductive fibers achieve antistatic properties by utilizing the combined effects of electrostatic induction, corona discharge, and leakage of conductors. Usually, it can be woven in the weft direction, or it can be woven in the warp direction, or anti-static yarn can be woven in both the warp and weft directions to achieve anti-static effect, and it will appear in strips or grids on the cloth surface. The fabric has good color, good feel, wrinkle resistance, easy washing, and excellent anti-static properties and is deeply loved by labor protection apparel companies. According to the comfort of wearing and the requirements of the use environment, there are generally weave specifications such as plain weave, twill weave, yarn card, and straight tribute. According to the customer’s requirements for fabric style, it is divided into normal weaving and reverse weaving. The square meter weight of the fabric is between 110g and 320g, which can meet the needs of four-season clothing.
The antistatic raw materials currently used mainly include: organic conductive filaments, short fibers and stainless steel fibers. According to the different antistatic performance requirements of different uses of clothing, different raw materials and ratios are selected.
