In life, some people with physical disabilities need to wear assistive equipment to move their limbs, but wearing these equipment often looks very awkward, stiff, and unsightly. Now, a newly developed “textile muscle” material should be able to solve this problem well. This is a new study from Linköping University in Sweden. Scientists used a flexible electroactive polymer called polypyrrole to make it look like a cloth. They connected power supplies to both ends. When the power is increased, the material will stretch. Long, this material will return to its original shape when the power is turned off. Repeatedly changing the charge in this way allows it to move like a muscle.
In the laboratory, researchers have used experiments to make this material complete the task of lifting small heavy objects. This research will have great application potential in the future. People can make it into clothing and wear it under daily clothes. In this way, you can use this kind of clothing to help you do various strenuous things.
