According to data from the General Administration of Customs of Vietnam, Vietnamese companies exported a total of approximately 850 million medical masks from January to August 2020. Among them, more than 70 companies jointly exported more than 135 million medical masks in August 2020 alone. The main importing countries include Japan, South Korea, Germany, and the United States; the rest are exported to Australia, China, Laos, Poland, and Singapore.
According to Vietnamese media VietnasdfssdfsmNews, masks have become Vietnam’s export highlight during the COVID-19 epidemic. Textile and garment companies have quickly modified machines and raw materials to produce medical masks, antibacterial cloth masks, and epidemic prevention supplies to make up for orders for other products that were delayed due to the epidemic.
Differing from the original restriction of only allowing the export of medical masks for humanitarian relief and international assistance purposes, the Vietnamese government officially announced at the end of April 2020 that as long as it can meet domestic demand, medical masks are allowed. Masks are exported and there is no upper limit on quantity.
According to data from the General Bureau of Statistics of Vietnam, Vietnam’s export revenue from January to August 2020 totaled more than 174.1 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 1.6% compared with the same period in 2019. </p
