On September 3, 2020, the governor of California, USA, signed the AB44 bill, which prohibits the sale and manufacture of fur products and will take effect on January 1, 2023. The content of the bill is as follows:

1) It is illegal to sell, offer for sale, display for sale, buy, sell or otherwise distribute fur products for monetary or non-monetary consideration.

2) It is illegal to produce and sell fur products within the state.

3) The prohibition does not apply to the following situations:

①Second-hand fur products;

②Fur products used for religious purposes;

③Fur products used for traditional tribal, cultural or spiritual purposes Purpose, by members of federally recognized Native American tribes or by members of non-federally recognized California Native American tribes listed on the California Tribal Advisory List maintained by the Indian Heritage Commission;

④ Any activity expressly authorized by federal law.

4) Those who sell or trade second-hand fur products or fur products mentioned in point 3 must keep records of each sale or transaction of exempted fur products for at least one month Year.

Note:

●”Fur” means any animal skin or part thereof to which Contains hair, villi or fur fibers, whether raw materials or processed products.

●”Fur goods” means any garment or covering for any part of the body, or any fashion accessory, including but not limited to handbags, made wholly or partly of fur Bags, shoes, slippers, hats, ear muffs, scarves, shawls, gloves, jewelry, key chains, toys or trinkets, and home accessories and decorations.

●”Fur products” does not include any of the following:

1) “U.S. Code” Dog or cat fur products as defined in section 1308 of title 19, as read on January 1, 2020;

2) The fur of an animal or Part of it is produced and processed into leather, and the hair, velvet or fur fibers will be completely removed during the processing;

3) Fur-coated cowhide products;

4) Wool products of deerskin, sheepskin or goatskin;

5) Animals preserved through taxidermy Fur or skin;

6) Products manufactured under California Code Section 3087 or Section 4303.

●”Second-hand fur products” refers to any form of fur worn or used by the end consumer. </p
