Turkmenistan Oriental Network reported on February 18 that Turkmenistan’s cotton ginning output increased by more than 28% from January to December 2020 compared with the same period in 2019. This was due to government policies and New production capacity is put into operation. In 2018, the Turkmenistan government decided that starting from 2019, all cotton grown in the country will need to be processed. In 2020, two large cotton spinning mills in Turkmenistan completed their modernization. Turkmenistan’s cotton fiber production in 2020 increased by 11.6% compared with 2019, and cotton yarn production increased by 3.9%. From January to December 2020, the export volume of finished textile products produced by Turkmen state-owned enterprises increased significantly, with an increase of 13.4% compared with the same period in 2019.
The textile and ginning industry plays an important role in diversifying Turkmenistan’s economy and promoting employment. Increased production capacity in this field will help improve people’s well-being. In order to continue to maintain the momentum of production growth, the Ministry of Textile Industry of Turkmenistan plans to upgrade one textile factory and increase the production capacity of two cotton spinning mills this year. In addition, Turkmenistan will put into operation two large-scale textile complexes in July and August this year, with an annual output of 3,650 tons of compact cotton yarn, 12 million square meters of high-quality sewing fabrics, and 3,300 tons of fine fiber yarn, and 20 million square meters of high-quality fabrics. </p
