Technical textiles and PPE exports bring new opportunities to Bangladesh

The global technical textiles market is expected to grow from US$179.2 billion in 2020 to US$114.4 billion in 2025, with an average annual growth rate of 4.2%. The global personal protective equipment market is expected to exceed US$93 billion by the end of 2025. According to data from the Export Promotion Bureau of Bangladesh (EPB), Bangladesh exported personal protective equipment and masks worth US$618 million in the 2020/21 fiscal year, an increase of 23% over the previous fiscal year. However, the specific export value of Bangladesh’s apparel technical textiles is not yet clear. The report points out that Bangladesh has huge potential to capture the European and US markets. Bangladeshi garment manufacturers are still in the early stages of development. Once Bangladesh establishes reputation, confidence and reliability in this new product area, it can gradually introduce more more technologies and develop towards more diversified and complex products to obtain higher profit margins. </p
