According to le360 online report on December 1, the Moroccan Textile and Clothing Industry Association (AMITH) presented the “Textile 2035 Vision” and sustainable development to the media in Casablanca on December 30 route map. The textile industry is one of the main sectors of Moroccan industry. From a national perspective, there were 1,628 companies in the textile industry in 2019, employing 189,000 people, and the industry’s turnover was 50.48 billion dirhams, of which 36.5 billion was exported. Affected by the epidemic in 2020, the export volume of the textile industry dropped to 29.8 billion dirhams, with the main markets being Spain and France. In June 2021, thanks to the economic recovery in Europe, some orders were transferred from Asia to Morocco, promoting the recovery of the Moroccan textile industry.
According to AMITH’s new vision, it proposes to develop two innovative pilot ecological parks of 100 hectares each in Casablanca and Tangier by 2035, and hopes to establish suitable Financing platform to promote the development of Moroccan brands. AMITH’s goal is to increase Morocco’s textile exports to 60 billion dirhams per year and increase Morocco’s export share to the North American and Nordic markets to 20% of Morocco’s total exports. It also intends to increase the share of cooperative production from the current 35% to 60% by 2035 and increase the market share of local Moroccan manufacturers to 40%. </p
