Foreign news on January 3, the price of cotton in Gujarat on Tuesday was 61,500-62,000 rupees per khandi (356 kg). In the past two days, cotton prices have further increased by Rs 500 per kandi. According to traders, farmers are unwilling to sell seed cotton (nasdfssdfsrmasdfssdfs) at low prices. Limited arrivals and high demand from textile mills supported cotton prices. Cotton prices are higher, with a transaction price of 1,750-1,800 rupees per 20 kilograms.
Cotton yarn in southern India
Cotton yarn in southern India rose on demand and Export orders improved. Textile mills in Gujarat received export orders for cotton yarn, boosting market sentiment. In Mumbai, the prices of fine-count cotton yarn continued to fall while those of coarse-count cotton yarn increased. Cotton yarn prices remained steady in Tirupur.
Cotton yarn prices in Mumbai were mixed. The price of cotton yarn in coarse count increased by Rs 5-10 per kg, but due to weak domestic demand, the price of cotton yarn in fine count fell by Rs 5-8 per kg. A Mumbai trader said, “Export orders from China have increased sales of coarse-count cotton yarn. Combed coarse-count yarn is mainly used for export. After spinning mills increased the price of cotton yarn, more buyers came to inquire.”
In Mumbai, 60-count carded cotton yarn warp and weft yarn is trading at Rs 1520-1550 and 1440-1500 per 5 kg (excluding GST), and 60-count combed warp yarn is trading at Rs 340-1500 per kg. 345 rupees; 80-count carded weft yarn is 1450-1470 rupees per 4.5 kg, and 44/46-count carded warp yarn is 290-295 rupees per kg; according to Fibre2Fasdfssdfsshion’s market insight tool TexPro, 40/41 carded warp yarn is priced at 282 per kg -285 rupees, 40/41 count combed warp yarn 298-305 rupees per kg.
Tiruppur cotton yarn purchases increased, but prices remained stable. Traders said buying activity has improved at current prices, with new export orders improving buyer confidence. Southern textile mills cut prices on New Year’s Day.
In the Tirupur market on Tuesday, 30-count combed cotton yarn was priced at Rs 285-290 per kg (excluding GST), and 34-count combed cotton yarn was priced at Rs 300-290 per kg. 305 rupees, 40 count combed cotton yarn 310-315 rupees per kg. According to TexPro, 30-count carded cotton yarn is sold at Rs 255-260 per kg, 34-count carded cotton yarn at Rs 265-270 per kg and 40-count carded cotton yarn at Rs 270-275 per kg. </p
