According to the latest statistics, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports in December 2011 reached US$2.901 billion, a month-on-month increase of 0.32%, a year-on-year decrease of 19.76%; the yarn exports were 133,100 tons, a month-on-month increase 22.37%, a year-on-year increase of 7.39%; imported yarn was 81,600 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 1.83%, a year-on-year decrease of 26.60%; imported fabrics were US$1.030 billion, a month-on-month decrease of 22.09%, a year-on-year decrease of 25.16%.
From January to December 2011, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports reached US$37.496 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.27%; exported yarn was 1.5745 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 15.04%; imported yarn Threads were 1.0459 million tons, a year-on-year decrease of 1.85%; imported fabrics were US$14.682 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.74%.
It can be seen that due to the impact of the epidemic blockade and the decline in consumption in major economies, Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports fell sharply this year after reaching an annual high in August, and then fell again later. There was no obvious rebound, and yarn imports and exports both narrowed slightly year-on-year. </p
