According to statistics from the General Administration of Customs of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia, from January to October 2011, the country’s clothing exports increased by 18.5% compared with the same period in 2021, reaching US$7.75 billion, accounting for the country’s total exports during the same period. Foreign income accounted for 41.3% of the US$18.75 billion.
From January to October 2011, Cambodia’s export volume of clothing and apparel accessories (knitted) was US$5.51 billion, an increase of 16% from US$4.75 billion in the same period in 2021. Exports of clothing and clothing accessories (non-knitwear) increased by 25.1% to US$1.13 billion, with exports in 2021 reaching US$1.79 billion.
However, Cambodia’s exports experienced negative growth in October 2011, indicating sluggish global market demand. The export value of knitted clothing and clothing accessories fell by 24.2% to US$400 million from US$530 million in the same period last year; the export value of non-knitted clothing fell by 4.3% to US$170 million.
In terms of imports, the country’s imports of knitted or crocheted fabrics from January to October 2011 were US$2.55 billion, an increase of 4.6% from US$2.43 billion in the same period in 2021. Imports of man-made fibers increased by 12.7% to US$1.01 billion, compared with US$890 million in the same period in 2021. Cotton imports fell 1.4% to US$420 million, compared with US$430 million in the same period in 2021. </p
