Foreign news on July 19 showed that the prices of polyester and viscose yarns in India increased, while polyester and cotton remained stable. Due to the introduction of quality control orders (QCO), overseas shipments are expected to be disrupted, and the price of viscose yarn has increased by 2 rupees per kilogram.
Polyester-cotton yarn prices in Ludhiana remained unchanged, while polyspun yarns increased by Rs 2 per kg after the implementation of QCO. A trader in Ludhiana explained: “The implementation of QCO on polyester filament may lead to interruption of imported supply. This pushes up yarn prices. However, due to the government’s relaxation on polyester imports, prices may fall.”
Polymer yarn prices increased in Surat. According to industry insiders, yarn prices have risen in the short term, but as polyester yarn continues to be imported in the next two and a half months, prices are expected to fall.
Cotton prices in northern India increased by 25-30 rupees per morund (37.2 kg) due to increased demand from spinning mills and stronger ICE cotton futures. Trade sources said spinning mills are actively buying cotton due to increased demand from the textile industry. Cotton is sold at 5875-5975 rupees per morind in Punjab, 5650-5750 rupees per morind in Haryana, 5950-6075 rupees per morind in upper Rajasthan, and 55000-56500 rupees per kandi (356 kg) in lower Rajasthan ( 356 kg). </p
