Morocco becomes the third largest textile supplier to the EU

According to a recent comment by the Moroccan LesEcos newspaper, the French Textile Association Evalliance recently released a report stating that Morocco is the third largest textile supplier to the EU, and the wage level of Moroccan textile workers is also among the EU suppliers. Ranked third, ahead of Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar and other countries, and 50% higher than Tunisia. Although this salary level can improve workers’ purchasing power and living standards, it also weakens the competitiveness of enterprises to a certain extent, and enterprises need to cut profits or adjust product prices to cope with rising costs. However, Morocco’s overall economic level is relatively high, and its GDP is expected to reach US$140 billion in 2023. The report recommends that Moroccan textile companies improve their product design and innovation capabilities, manufacture high value-added products, enter the mid-to-high-end market, and ensure the sustainable development of the industry. </p
