“VNA” reported on September 28 that the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam issued a notice on September 28 forwarding No. 14-572 from the Eurasian Economic Commission to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam. The official letter states that Vietnam’s textile and apparel exports to the Eurasian Economic Union in 2020 are too large and may trigger trade defense measures.
Specifically, clothing with HS codes 6104.41, 6104.42, 6104.43, 6104.44, 6104.49, 6204.42, 6204.44, 6204.49 will be exported to Asia and Europe from January to July 2020. Economic Union exports have reached 79.4% of the maximum value specified for the year.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam, Article 2.10 of the “Vietnam and Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement” stipulates the trade defense value of 12 categories of Vietnamese export commodities. Vietnam Textile and clothing exports to the Eurasian Economic Union are facing a crisis that exceeds the value. Vietnam’s textiles and clothing may be levied a normal tax rate (MFN) for 6-9 months. </p
