Textile exports in the first nine months of 2021 were US$23.41 billion, an increase of nearly US$1.23 billion or 5.6% compared with the same period last year. The main export markets are the United States, the European Union, Japan, etc., of which exports to the United States were US$22.62 billion, an increase of 22.1%, exports to the EU were US$2.75 billion, an increase of 2.4%, and exports to Japan were US$1.18 billion, a decrease of 22.6%. The main export commodities include clothing, cloth, fiber, non-woven fabrics, and textile accessories.
Reports indicate that Vietnam still relies heavily on imports of raw and auxiliary materials for textile production. According to Vietnam Customs statistics, the import of raw and auxiliary materials for the textile and leather footwear industry in the first nine months of 2021 reached US$19.6 billion, an increase of US$4.2 billion or 26.9% compared with the same period last year. Among them, imports from China accounted for the largest share (52%), reaching 10.1 billion US dollars, an increase of 31% compared with the same period last year, followed by South Korea with US$1.86 billion, Taiwan with US$1.83 billion, and the United States with US$1.4 billion. </p
