Namibia imports about 10,000 US dollars of second-hand clothing every time

With the rise of fast fashion clothing production lines, ordinary consumers purchase more clothes. A large amount of unsalable and used clothes are shipped to Chile and then resold to other Latin American countries. Chile is suffering from serious “clothing pollution”. The desert in Chile is also known as Fast fashion graveyard. According to United Nations data, the fashion industry accounts for 8-10% of the world’s carbon emissions, and in 2018 the fashion industry consumed more energy than the air transport industry combined. </p
