Foreign news on June 1, cotton yarn prices in northern India continued to fall due to weak demand. Market prices in Ludhiana and Delhi have dropped by Rs 2-5/kg. Under such circumstances, cotton yarn traders remain uncertain about the possibility of price recovery. Still, spinners have struggled to maintain prices. A similar situation is witnessed in Panipat recycled yarn market with yarn prices remaining stable. Sellers and textile mills are reluctant to cut prices to attract buyers. At the same time, combed cotton prices rose slightly due to slow supply from spinning mills.

Cotton yarn price fell by Rs 2/kg in Ludhiana market as the lack of buyers made the market sentiment negative. A trader in the Ludhiana market told: “The demand for cotton yarn has not improved. Despite losses, mills and stockists have reduced prices by Rs 2/kg.”

30 count combed yarn is priced at 262-272 rupees per kilogram (including consumption tax). The price of 20-count and 25-count combed yarn per kilogram is 254-259 rupees and 252-257 rupees. The price of 30 count carded yarn is 242-252 rupees per kilogram.

The price of cotton yarn in Delhi market also dropped by 2-5 rupees/kg. The textile industry has been purchasing small amounts of cotton yarn due to uncertainty over the recovery of apparel industry purchases. A trader in the Delhi market said: “Market conditions are still weak. Textile mills and traders are trying to avoid losses amid reduced demand. However, some traders are still hopeful that export orders will improve in late June and July.”

The transaction price of 30-count combed yarn is 260-265 rupees per kilogram (excluding consumption tax), and the transaction price of 40-count combed yarn is 285-295 rupees per kilogram. The price of 30-count carded yarn is 237-242 rupees per kilogram, and the price of 40-count carded yarn is 267-270 rupees per kilogram.

Combed cotton prices recovered in the Panipat recycled yarn market due to reduced production and supply from spinning mills. However, factories are unwilling to lower prices further, and recycled yarn prices remain stable.

Industry insiders said that spinning mills have further reduced the output of combed cotton yarn, resulting in reduced supply.

10-count recycled polyester yarn (grey) is trading at 80-85 rupees per kilogram (including consumption tax). 10-count recycled PC yarn (black) costs 50-55 rupees per kilogram, 20-count recycled PC yarn (grey) costs 95-100 rupees per kilogram, and 30-count recycled PC yarn (gray) costs 140-145 rupees per kilogram. The price of combed cotton is Rs 125-126 per kg. Recycled polyester fiber (PET bottle fiber) price is 68-70 rupees per kilogram.

Cotton prices in northern India remain stable due to limited arrivals and demand. Traders note that buyers are showing little interest in new purchases. Low arrivals can be attributed to adverse weather conditions. Farmers’ stocks are expected to be depleted as the arrival season ends. Cloudy and rainy weather further hampered the arrival of new stock. The arrival quantity of cotton is 2500 bales (170kg/bag). The transaction price of cotton in Punjab is 5800-5900 rupees per morund, Haryana is 5725-5825 rupees, upper Rajasthan is 6050-6175 rupees, and lower Rajasthan is selling at 55300-57300 rupees per khandi (356 kg). </p
